I've noticed that when a Scoob is being driven with the parking lights on the headlight part isn't on at all. I thought, by law now, that the head light parts had to come on dim like all the other new cars that I see.

What you're referring to was the old British dim-dip system, an excellent idea IMHO, whereby the headlights would automatically come on at reduced power with the ignition and sidelights both on.

As far as I am aware, this mode of operation was 'outlawed' by the EU some years ago, so there should not be *any* newish cars out there driving around on dim-dip. It's now either all or nothing, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! .... trying for a smiley this time ..... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

The sadly old fashioned Mini went over to dim dip... feeding 12v through a resistor to step down to 9v(?) or connecting 2 bulbs in series.... only recently so it is probably still quite common on UK spec Cars

Maybe the Scooby parking light switch isolates the feed to the main lights - like the hazards do to the indicator feed? (guesswork! I need a loom diagram for a M reg WRX type Ra!!!)
