I am about to upgrade my MY98 headlamp bulbs, and after much research (on this BBS and some very informative websites) I am thinking of going for the unfeasibly expensive PIAA SuperWhites (BC2), the ones which draw 80W/80W but put out the equivalent of 135W/115W or thereabouts.
I'm not after suggestions or recommendations, what I want to know is, has anyone had any BAD experiences with them ? Do they blow quickly ? Melt wiring or reflectors ? Anything else bad. Many thanks in anticipation. |
For your info......
I've had the plasma blue 80/80's in my impreza for 4 weeks now and they are amazing and the same bulbs were in another car before that for 10 months both had no problems at all. The only thing which a " mate " told me when he collected his from demon tweaks they told him "don't start your engine with the h/lamps on as they are very prone to damage from fluctuations in voltage". I've done it a couple of times with the Impreza and " got away with it " but had no other problems. Kev |
Exactly how unfeasibly expensive are they Tony? Is there any sort of guarantee on them (if they chose to blow after 2 weeks of use)?

£94 + VAT ! So you'll understand I want a 'feelgood' factor before I part with the folding. Not too confident on a guarantee on something as fragile as bulbs, but Kevin's point is good advice. Cheers lads.

Hows it going with the bulbs and whats the difference in effect with plasma blue against plasma white? Regards |
Sunil
I've got 80w Blue on my bike & for that they seem great. Watch how people get out the way, cool reflection when off & stationary (goes with the Silver/Black colourscheme), white reflective objects shout at you (lines & signposts) & an increased range/depth of field. Shags the battery though - not helped as I run all the time with lights on, but hey, I'm safer! |
I've got these bulbs installed now - see the other thread on PIAA SuperWhites.
