Having read something on increasing economy cheaply by opening wastegates, I read that it was possible to buy devices for electronically adjusting the boost whilst driving from an interior module.

Is this true?

If so how much boost adjustment do they give you?

How easy do they fit?

Where can I get one?

Do these things have (digital if possible) boost guages built in?

Are there any din size units?

How much?

Does anyone have anythoughts on which is best/preferable?

Can I think of anymore questions?

Adam...

The ecomony device is a device that bypasses/eliminates the wastegate solenoid. I am currently designing/developing the kit... It will be a plug-in device (no wire cutting), that fits inside the car.

I hasnt got any boost gauge and wont be adjustable.. It is purely to stop any boost developing (above 7psi) and hence increase economy.

From your post... what you are really after is an electronic boost controller. These allow you to set the boost to what ever you want (within the reach of the turbo). They have a digital boost gauge built in (the expensive jap ones do). They arent DIN sized though.

The Jap ones range from about 350 quid upwards...

Oops...Pizza is here...

bye

Well my kit is readily available (firefox http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )

on a straight road doing 80mph
Normally I get 31mpg
With econ I get 31mpg !!

The only time you get better mpg is if you are constantly accelerating and using more than 7psi normally.

More of a speed-limiting anti-theft sort of device really.

Lee...

Its not a speed limiter.... people can still go 170mph... just means then need the whole of the M1 to do it... lol
