E36 M3 info

As above, where's the best place to read all about these babies?.

Did a quick search on here and couldn't find any threads about them (despite seeing them before).

Need to know what to look out for, read something about VANOS?, no explanationa as to what it was, just read something about them being faulty etc.

Sold my skyline and it's either going to be one of these cars (if it's a good price), or an RX7, whatever comes along really.

Try doing a search mate, theres a forum similar to this one, but for BMW's ...my mate goes on it.

Sorry i cant remember the name of it.

Yahoo has a "group " for enthusiasts of this car. Try doing a search on that.

I found a bmw owners club, but there wasn't that much specific info. There are a fair amount of these cars, was thinking there's an M3 forum?.

Best to get one of the 3.0l cars no VANOS and 'only' 286bhp but cheaper to buy and more reliable than the 3.2l version IMHO.

Easier to tune reliably too - recent 3L with minor tweaks dyno'ed higher than an Evo on the day.

I have mate :)

Nice to have a bit of good fuel economy for a change!, not the fastest thing on the road, but ok for a while.

VANOS is not Evo specific by the way.

turboman786 14 May 2004 07:46 PM

The m3 evo is pretty reasonable on fuel...mine averages 23mpg which is mainly town and a bit of steady....which is astonishingly good for a 321 bhp car....

Yep it does go very well, I'm pleased with it :) , just spoilt myself a bit with a 400bhp skyline for the past 6 months, as I said it's nice to have some performance and more economy.

stone-islandM3 15 May 2004 11:29 AM

Pop in a filter and marry it up with decat and ss rearbox and you'll be popping 300bhp min. with a lower start to the power band.
