Scratch on back window
 

I have received a fairly deep (pickable with your fingernail type deep) scratch about an inch and a half long. Any ideas how I can "polish" this out. Mrs Nebbs at the post office says toothpaste might work but that sounds like an old wives tale (literally :D).
Any advice to an old gent would be grateful :D

I have a glazing company.We recomend if u can feel the scratch with ur nail u cant get it out . But to take scratches out we use jewllers rouge it's a pink powder u add some water and make it into a paste.Then get something hard cover with a cloth dip the cloth into the paste and start to rub the scratch.It takes a while with fine scratches but its worth a try if any thing it will dull the scratch down.
