Run in with a CL55 AMG
 

Last night, series of straights only on dual carriageway, from traffic lights twice.

I managed to pull away convincingling in gears 1,2 and 3 (anything above would be too fast).

Though it would have been quicker or maybe he didn't give it all. I also made a crap launch off the lights. Whats the stats on these things?

I in a 99, decat, tek 2, induction.

He probably had his speed limiter turned on - they will destroy you if the driver can drive .. sorry :D

Not the SL55 - the CL55 - 2 exhausts!

Had a run in with a SL55 before - and I got whipped bigtime!

Sounds about right. So this is for the non-AMG version? I'm sure I saw an AMG badge unless people stick on fake badges.

It was not that beast of a V12. It had 1 twin-pipe chromed exhaust on the back left and was a 4 seater-coupe.

I owned a CLK 430 AMG - but the AMG bit only meant it had AMG wheels and bodykit - so that may have been it in your case also :D

I've got an S55kompressor

Same engine and chassis as the CL55,

It does 0-100 in around 10 seconds, with a bad launch and the traction control on

It's very consistant, the surface was greasy during these runs and this second run the launch was even worse still hits 100 in about 10 secs.

Point of pedentry - proper AMG cars will have a 2 digit tag (CL55, CL65) and the normal ones 3 figs (CL500, CL600) and that applies to the whole range.

If you saw CL55 - it would have been the AMG version.

The prefix is the body style (SL is the 2 dr conv with the Vario roof, CL the 2 dr Coupe, S the large 4 dr sal). These 3, plus the ML, C class, CLK and E class can all be had with the 5.5l supercharged engine AMG stylee.

The S class S55AMG weighs 2.5 tonnes and is as quick to 100 mph as a 911 Turbo, 550 Maranello or a Murcielago - they are very quick.

I have never been destroyed as badly as I was by an SL55 AMG. It sounded like a dream.... :)

Both the SL55 and CL55 have 4 exhausts so if the one you raced didnt then likely to be a CL500 with CL55 badges on it

Just realised that the older CL55 with 355bhp and no supercharger only had 2 exhausts so it was obviously one of those. The later 500bhp CL55 with Supercharger has 4 exhausts!!

A guy by us has an S55 AMG, and he destroys my poor MY03 every morning. My last STi Type RA was more of a match, but the S55 was quicker than that too!
