Help needed to enable Java in Xp

I'm trying to enable Java on my XP system so i can get in chat. I've looked in the advanced tab of IE. I've even uninstalled IE and re-installed it.

Any ideas.

download the java plugin from

http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp
