STi Door Protectors

Hi,

I've searched the forum for images of the STi door protectors but can't find any.

I'm getting a new STi in WR Blue and I am not sure whether to go for the protectors or not. It troubles me that they aren't body coloured, how do they actually look on a WR Blue STi anyone?

Thanks!

Spanjab

I am guessing then that no-one has these fitted to their STi's? Do they look that bad?

Mikkk 05 May 2004 02:31 PM

I have them fitted to my black UK MY03 STi ... think they look OK, though the garage managed to fit one on the wrong way round ... made me chuckle. They remedied it for free as you'd expect.
Morale of the story: check everything *thoroughly* before driving away ;)

Right, thanks. I guess as they are black they would look OK in a black car. Still kinda worried on a WR Blue, someone must have them? :)

Mikkk 05 May 2004 02:40 PM

Whoops ... just re-read your post ... thought you were asking about the STi Entry Guard Set ... sorry about that. I do not have the ... hmmm, can't find any details on the Subaru website re. 'STi Door Protectors' ... are you referring to the STi Side Protector Mouldings?? (I don't have those)

Sorry not much help :(

Yeah, they are the things that go along the middle of the door to stop getting dents from other car doors in car parks, anyone got those?

You could always get them colour coded before they go on the car. Had black on my P1, looked ok but saw a few coulour coded and imho they looked better. Not bothered on the STI thou. Both the P1 & STI look better without but they do do a job & help protect the side of the car

cheers simon

Yeah I tried to get hold of some for my classic but they didn't know the part number thus couldn't order em, anybody got a Part no. ?

Spanjab 05 May 2004 03:44 PM

Hmmm, the dealer said they were black and not available body colour. I'll ask again! :)

you will have to get them colour coded your self. Thought your dealer might offer to do this 4 you, it's an extra sale for him after all.

if not, try any body shop, just get colour code. (I know someone based in Baldock in Herts who does spraying for the local subaru dealer if any good to you?)

Wouldn't bother. I had them on my last car WRX. One week after fitting came out the gym and some tw@t in a 4x4 had whacked a ding on the passenger door above the protector  . They looked OK, infact quite good, being black on black mica but dont know about black on WR blue on my STi now. There is a picture of them in place (on WR blue) in the Impreza brochure, and on red on the Subaru UK website. I scanned the brochure quickly for you just now but it seems I cant post attatchments on this thread...sorry!

I have them on a silver classic wagon. I think they look great and save it from fools in lesser motors.

Your dealer really should know the part no.

Must look closer at your car next time. I have been wondering whether colour coded ones were available. Where did you get em Martin?

I have fitted them on my WR blue car, ok they may not look fantastic but they are there to do a job.
It was getting very expensive calling the dent people all the time
