Locking Wheel Nuts
 

I've lost the adapter for taking my locking wheel nuts off (Look in the dictionary under the word "Tit" and you'll see a picture of me).

They were on when I got the car, no idea of make, so a replacement is impossible.

Are there places that can get them off without causing tons of damage?? If so, anywhere in NE England??

Only had the wheel off yesterday, but can't find the damned adapter anywhere today. What a w@nker.

That seems like a pretty dumb thing to do but i'm sure there are ways around it :) --- I guess a good garage will be able to sort it out with a bit of gigery pokery :)

Is there not an adapter number in your service/hand book? Or the little pouch that holds the adapter etc?

I had this a while back, used it, lost it !! eventually found it next to the brake fluid res under the bonnet, i had run about for over a week with it wedged in !!. In ther mean time scooby dealer told me i would need a new set as the nuts are one offs, piece of p!ss for a wheel place to get them off (drive a socket over it).

Hope you find it amigo, look in the strangest places and it usually turns up.

I've managed to get the swines off. Just like you said tmo, I managed to bash a socket onto the outside of them. Weird really, cos the place the socket gripped is perfectly cylindrical, but it tapered so the more I hit it, the tighter it got. Fitted the ratchet on, and bingo, all 4 came away.

I thought 1 had to give me trouble (i.e. sods law), but they all came fine.

Only got 4 nuts on now, but not going anywhere until tomorrow, no other choice really. First port of call, the nearest motor factors.

if u have after market lkin whell nuts u will need to get them drilled out by a garage but be warned i got charged £30 quid a corner and that was on an old BMW!

You can often drill them out - I had a similar problem on my BMW328i (that I had before the Scooby) and the 'key' broke. Take your time, and it's a doddle.

Thats how the bugger nick your wheels. Just makes you think how easy its done :(

That's why I have two different makes on mine, so they'll need different ways to get them off. Won't stop the very determined, but can't hurt to keep the opportunist scumbags away.

It's cost me £27 for a new set due to my carelessness, but maybe it'll learn me to put the most important stuff away first in future.

Wouldn't have minded if I had lost anything else I'd been using that day, jack or jack handle, wheel brace etc, they are easily replaced, but to lose the most important thing is just typical. As I said before, been really lucky to get them off without any trouble.
