I need to replace the pads and disks on my 93 WRX and being a bit new to these cars I just wondered if any of you guys out there could give me some advice on what to go for, where to get them and what kind of price I'm looking at. I've been quoted £500 for Tarox pads and discs all round. I've got 2 pot calipers on my car. Any help will be much appreciated

Fitted Tar-Ox grooved and drilled discs and pads to the front of my 95WRX and I am sorry to say I was not impressed. The 2pots are just not up to the job and the brakes faded very quickly during fast road use. I have used them for 10 months and are ready for replacement after 8000miles. I have opted for the Godspeed kit with Subaru 4pots and 335mm discs and pads for £750. Got new rear discs for another £100.

I wish I had went for this option before. I know it is a few hundred extra but I would get rid of the 2pots.

I fitted standard size "Black Diamond" disks to my car and they are better in that they don't warp as easily (using Mintex 1155s).

They don't pull you up any quicker though so I went for a "big disk" kit from Hi Spec which retains the 2 pot calipers.

Got a set of 4 pots from a later spec sti (£250 inc disc and pads), big improvement over two pots, even with standard pads and discs. Did my first trackday at Croft a few weeks back using standard discs and ebc redstuff pads, had no fade all day http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
If you can't afford serious upgrades, 4 pots are a good bet

Likewise,

I upgraded to 4 pots on my 94 WRX and the difference was noticeable, going ot put group N discs and pads on, from TSL when I scrape enough money together after paying for her repairs..........ask Mellow Yellow! what the discs are like as he has got them on his P1, unless I can get him to post here first.....

Michelle.

On my 94WRX I've got Pagid grooved discs on the front with Mintex pads all round. Everything else is standard. Never had any fade (Including fast laps of Nurburgring), stopping power is great.

Discs were about 70 quid each, pads were about 110 quid (I think) for the lot.

Bargain.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I've managed to get a hold of some 4 pots off someone on here which I'm going to go with for the time being.

Cheers
