HELP: Bridgestone S02's / RE050's
 

I'm wanting a change in tyres to Bridgestones, but don't know which ones to go for and what prices are around.

What are peoples opinions on the SO2 and where can I find them either online via mail order or in the NorthWest somewhere that will fit at a good price. The cheapest ones I've found so far seem to be on MyTyres for £123.90 inc vat and P&P but not fitting), these are for 225/40/18's.

Has anyone also tried the RE050's as there doesn't seem to be a lot of info about them out there - let me know if you have as I'm very interested in them having tried the RE070's on my car originally (but I can't find them in 18" and they are very expensive anyway).

Oh and if anyone knows, what does the N1,N2,N3 at the end of the tyre ID mean as MyTyres advertise them as:

Potenza S-02 225/40 ZR18 ZR N3, A
Potenza S-02 225/40 ZR18 ZR N2
Potenza S-02 225/40 ZR18 ZR N1

RE050 are standard fit on WRX03> I had SO2 on a 306 GTI-6 and 205 GTI and couldn't fault them.

Oh and I've found my old account details, so I'm getting rid of the "_" and going back to just BlueBoy :D

the n1, n2 etc are porsche approved/fitments.

The N indicates that the tyres have some degree of rim protection. (I think - I noticed the N when shopping for 996 tyres, the porsche approved ones were N spec and had a good overhang to protect the alloys).

Mytyres have Goodyear F1 GSD-3s for £114 each. Certainly as good as the SO2 - I've got a set on order :)

Great thanks guys - I'll go and insult RC Developments now (cos I was in there today and Clive didn't have a clue what the N rating was for) :D

I've got the Goodyears on my car now Chris and I'm not as chuffed with them as I thought I would be, don't know why - but then I was more than happy with Toyo's until I got this car and it seems the suspension is all centred around the tyres that were originally on it (the RE070's) because nothing is coming close to the levels of handling I got from it when they were on. Sadly they won't go over my AP brakes now with 17" and not available in 18" so I'll have to want.

Can you still get SO2s? I think you'll find that they are now SO3s.

SO3s are apparently not as good as the 2s.

GDS3 F1s are meant to be the current "best".

Yeah - mytyres are indeed doing S02's now, plus I've found several other places that will supply as well. I've not heard a good thing about S03's yet, so I'm staying far, far away!
