I had discs replaced on my rb5 @ 22,500 mile service under waranty as they were warped, is this normal for them to warp so soon.(obviously the dealer didn't think so.)
I thought they were more prone to warp when they got thinner.
Whats the best route for upgrade when it happens again? any suggetions?
thanks steve s

For replacements see any of a number of threads, but the
"Brake discs: the final frontier"

is a good starting point.

Hi Steve_s,

I have just upgraded to Pagid discs all round Pagid blue pads front, standard pads rear. Goodridge braided hoses 5.1 fluid £600 fitted inc vat. Ran them in for 400+ miles then did Croft track day (much rain). I now have steering wobble when braking from high speed. I would have thought all the water being sprayed on the discs would have helped to keep them cool and thus stop them from warping. This does not appear to be the case. So I'm not so sure the Pagid route is the best route. Anyone think I would have any success claiming under warranty??

You can spend anything from 80ukp to well over 1000ukp to improve braking beyond a better set of pads.

I fitted...
Bremsport grooved Gp N discs
Mintex 1155 pads
PE BSB
Goodridge hoses
DOT 5.1 brake fluid.

Total cost was less than 300ukp. This gave stopping power that made my head hurt, and never gave me any brake fade, even on track http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

My Prodrive/Alcons warped after less than 3000 miles!! Replaced under warranty as well.

Do a search for brake upgrade options - what's the budget?

In summary, the choices are (cheapest first):

Fast road pads
new discs & pads
bigger discs & pads
new brake setup (inc calipers, discs & pads)

Braided hoses and higher rated fluid can be added to any of the above.
