Hi all,
I'm just a month into Scooby ownership, and have to say I'm loving every minute! However, I washed my wheels for the first time yesterday with AUTO-GLYM's spray on stuff. When I rinsed it off, I realsied to my HORROR that the lovely black paint on my calipers was no more, and they had turned green http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif At first I thought it was the AUTO-GLYM stuff, but then I checked the rears and had no such problem- they look like new. (well, they are!) The fronts had loads more hard to shift dust on them, obviously. Is brake dust the culprit? Has it eroded my paint? I really hope not because I'm yet to really slam on the anchors. It's probably a silly question, but I thought I'd check and see if this is the norm or whether I should be ringing the dealers with my angry voice. Thanks a lot guys, Scooby-Dude |
"They all do that sir"
Foliatec caliper lacquer fixes it..... |
I used Hammerite on my calipers(front and back) and they were fine. Never had any problems with flaking or anything.
Gave them a good wire brushing(be careful) and clean, let dry, then paint - Easy. Steve. |
hi dave.i am about to paint my calipers with halfords caliper paint will i have to use foliatec lacquer after paint as dried..mark

Autoglym took the paint straight off my calipers as well.
I've seen some post about people using Hamerite smooth finish on calipers - they posted some pictures + they looked good. Gonna try it on mine soon. Richard |

Thanks a lot guys,
I probably look a bit daft for asking now, but thanks for not being too brutal! I guess I'll give the Halfords stuff a go. Thanks again, Scooby-dude |
My fronts went green as well http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif So will invest in some Hammerite. Whats THE colour, back in black, red or is that a bit Max Power? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
