BRAKE QUESTION, PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!

Hello there,

I hope someone can clear this up, because it concerns a car type that was never sold in the Netherlands:

Where the front 4 pot calipers on the GC8 STI models( which we never had) the same as on the NON-STI GC8 turbo models, or was there a difference?

Are the front calipers on the GC8 STI models the same as the current 2001 (and on) WRX caliper?

I come across these " STI 4 pot calipers " on the net often, so i would like to know if the word " STI " is used as a marketing tool, or correctly!

Thanx so much!

yes all of the "subaru" 4pot calipers are the same.......................however, the later 2001 STi's use a totally different "brembo" set-up............

Hi Stockcar,

I thought that all the classic STI models had upgraded brakes as part of the list of STI improvements over the standard turbo models, this after digging through the net for info.....

The 4 pots were the uprated brakes, as the euro classics had 2 pots untill late 1998 :)
After 98 all turbo Impreza's came with 4 pots! If they say Subaru down the side they are 4 pots the same as the STI ones.

thanx for clearing this up, they would be a great improvement over the stock 2pots that i have now when fitted together with Goodridge brakelines, i guess!
