How long do Grp N 'type' front disks (STi, Scoobysport pagid, TSL etc.) generally last in road use?

It will depend on the pads that you are using. A fast road pad will give you something like 25k-35k miles. A hotter pad like Pagid Blues or Ferrodo DS4003 will reduce this to 15k to 25k. Disc's cost a similar amount to good pads and you should consider both items as consumables. Track days will take between 2k and 5k extra out of a set of discs. The STi discs are the same as UK spec units and are not heat treated in manufacture, to the extent of a top quality aftermarket disc. They can crack or warp quite easily if used with high temperature tolerant pad. |
Pete,
I know this topic has been done to death, but what disc/pad combination do you consider a decent fast road setup....I'm not considering Brembo's or Alcons as I can't justify the costs... |
I've spent years on this.

Have you experience of this kit?...do the pads create a lot of dust?...have you tried the discs with other pads such as EBC greens/reds?
Just curious as what I'd realy like is an improved disc/pad combo with original 4 pot calipers on a MY99..but without too much dust that's reportedly a problem with some pads... |
