How sophisticated are Scooby ECU's

How sophisticated are Scooby ECU's in the MY03's?

I've booked mine in to my local dealer after the CEL came on and over the phone the dealer was implying that the car could have been over revved and that the ECU stores speed, revs, gear, etc at the time of the problem.

I can understand it storing revs and boost pressure but speed and gear???
