Securing gauges to pod
I have a set of three 60mm BF defi gauges and need to fit them into the pod.
What is the best method to do this? Any advice and pics greatly appreciated. Coulster |
Don't know about the Defi's, but I've seen two methods on others (Autometer & SPA):-
1. rubber band around the gauge & 2. "U"-shaped bracket on the back of the gauge. Does the Defi's not have anything like that? Stefan |
I have 3 Defi Link gauges in a Scoobymania pod. When I cut the holes, I did it slightly small, then sanded to size until the gauges were a tight push fit, and that's all that's holding them.
If you already have holes and they are too big for that to work, you could put them in with a couple of small blobs of clear silicone against the rear of the pod, and the side of the gauge. Leave it to set, and they won't move, but if the blobs really are small enough, say 1/2 cm, they will be easy to cut away if you need to, freeing the gauges. I swear by silicone...........I have fitted 4 small windows into a French house's loft with nothing else, and they are as solid as a rock. Alcazar |
Cheers mate.
I think thick rubber band and a couple of dabs of silicone will do nicely. Should be strong enough. Thanks again. Coulster |
Coulster,
You can see the thick black rubber band around by Autometer gauge in this pic:- http://stefanostadal.homedns.org/ima...ometer_kit.jpg There's also the U-Shaped bracket, but the rubber band was enough to hold in into my A-pillar pod without any problems. It's never came loose yet and you really need to push it hard from the back of the pod to get it to budge anyway. Stefan |
Superb ozzy

Or use "Masking tape"!!
Wrap it round the gauge untill it's the size of the hole. Easy to adjust if you put too much tape on, just rip a bit off :) Tip from a profesional installer ;) |
