Hi All

I've just got some new MY01 wheels to go on my MY95 car.
When putting them on I noticed that the size of the tyres is 215-45-17,now I'm sure the tyre sizes I've seen on the old shape cars like mine have been 205-45-17 or 215-40-17.
My questions are :
Is this tyre size ok to use.
If not what are the problems it will cause.

All help much appreiated as I'd rather not have to go out and buy some more tyres when these ones are brand new.(Any of you experts out there like Mike Wood or Pete Croney etc your views would be most welcome.)

Thanks

Chris

I believe that the 215-45-17 is ok as long as you do not have prodrive/lowered suspension as it will foul the struts. In this case you would need to user the 215-40-17. Please correct me if I'm wrong others out there!

should be ok to use i think they changed the tyre size coz it was an odd size to start with and only a few companys made that exact size

Did you get them from Intermoto? Cheap?

Will they be on for NM5?

Phil.
P.s Did you get my mail re: Convoy/meet up?

Young Ged, if you've visited that v useful Powerdog site, you'll probably have discovered that the 215/45 tyres have a 3.4% greater circumference, which means your speedo will under-read by that amount, ie at 100mph you're actually doing 103.4mph. No problem really, so long as you're aware.

What is the off-set of the MY01 wheels? I thought I read it was 55mm somewhere? It will marked on the wheel. Would you check? Thanks.

Hi guys

Thanks for the help so far.
I dont have prodrive struts so no problems there and I've been out in the car 3up and a set of wheels in the boot with no nasty rubbing noises so all looks ok on that front.
I thought it would throw the speedo out but wasn't sure by how much but it doesn't seem to bad, and tests I've seen usually show speedo's read low anyway.

Phil

Yes, Yes, and Yes so see you on Sunday.

Hoppy I'll see if I can read the off set off the back on sat so watch this space.

What I still want to know is could this affect the Diffs or anything else like that,as some differant size tyres will be a dam sight cheaper than a new diff.

Thanks again

Chris

ged, you'll have no problems with your diffs as long as all your wheels/tyres are the same, ie have the same rolling radius/dynamic diameter (call it what you will).

Fizz, they do not foul the Prodrive struts.

Just keep a real close eye on the sidewalls and the edges of the tread area.

Sometimes these things rub during full suspension compression and you'll not hear it.

Not likely to be any problems, but do the above purely for peace of mind.

Cheers

Hoppy

Had the wheels off today and they are indeed a 55 offset.

Hope this helps

Chris
