Hmm, I wonder if this is because I am behind a company firewall, and hence where I come in from changes due to DHCP?

The UBB bugs are known and has a solution, perhaps the webmaster could implement this and see if it helps me and others behind firewalls?

gregh 23 June 2000 10:30 AM

Does this work for anyone?

UBB is supposed to have 2 features, making it easier to read threads that have changed since your last visit.

One is lightbulbs on the section, the other is red folders inside the topic.

Neither works for me on Scoobynet, but does on 2 other UBB boards that I visit.

Does it work for anyone?

cheers,

Greg

Judging by the lack of replies it looks as though it does.

JohnS 23 June 2000 11:00 AM

Works fine for me, and has done for a long time ?

gregh 23 June 2000 11:21 AM

Hmm!

Do those that it works for get a

You last visited

line, as 22b does?

Wonder what is wrong at my end then!

Sometimes when I visit one forum and go back all the folders have changed. It doesn't always seem to do it though.

Hos 23 June 2000 01:22 PM

Same thing that happens with Rich happens with me. It works well though (just annoying if you miss loging on for a few days)

PeteC 23 June 2000 01:51 PM

I get the same as Greg (ie, no indication), but we have a firewall as well.

I can't remember what the situation is at home when I log on - I'll have to check tonight.

dewi 23 June 2000 01:53 PM

It works fine for me, and I'm behind a firewall at work.

Hudster 23 June 2000 04:37 PM

Hi Greg,

I used to have problems with the folders not updating. It was due to the pages being Cache'd. The light bulbs and folders would only change the next day since the pages were kept in the cache for a day. Try hitting refresh on your browser to see if that makes a difference.

Other than that, I don't know. I would ask if you had cookies enabled but you say it works for other sites so its probably not to do with that.

Hmmm. Any other IT bods lurking about know what's wrong?

Paul.

gregh 23 June 2000 05:08 PM

Hi Hudster,

We do have caching servers in the company.

It's weired, cos 22b.com works fine, which makes me think it is a problem on Scoobynet.

cheers,

Greg

I find that the lightbulbs don't work properly either, along with the last post date being out n'all.

Thus i don't bother relying on them.

This is via Demon, so no company firewalls to contend with.

Hudster,

you need to click SHIFT-Refresh, otherwise the page comes from the proxy-cache (rather than your browser cache).

So it seems it works for some and not for others.

Anyone who controls this web site willing to work with those who can't get it to work to fix it?

As I said 22b.com works fine and that also uses UBB, so it must be solvable!

Yup, I need to install the latest version! Will be done either tonight or tomorrow night.

Cheers Phil,

Can you post here when the upgrade is done.

Ta!

Greg

Phil,

Did it get done?

Greg
