Hi Guys,
I fitted a set of prodrive brakes last week and got DS2000 pads with them. They are amazing and even better then my previous Brembo setup.............or so I thought. I did my first trackday since having them fitted yesterday and I was braking 50feet later than everyone else. many comments were passed on how late i was braking. On the back straight I was hitting 120 mph on a downhill into a hairpin and was able to brake well after the braking cone. All was well until the last session when my pads went!!!! I mean WENT.....metal to metal........I can't believe it........only a week old........ It was session number four and just over a tank of fuel so you know roughly how long I was out. Anyway I now need new pads after limping home using engine braking and handbrake ;-) I know that the DS2000 are probably great pads but I'm just too hard on brakes (obviously) for them. What should I go for? Are pagids available for these calipers? Many thanks guys, Paul. |
Hi Paul
Even better than my Brembos ?? You should have known better http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Seriously, I assume you mean the Alcon 330mm kit (Prodrive written on the caliper). I think Pagid do make a pad, but try speaking direct to Alcon for a part number. |
I was reading this morning in the current EVO that at Palmer Sport at the Bedford Autodrome, they have to replace the disks *and* pads twice per day on their track cars.... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Paul,
Oh well, at least you didn't crack your discs then get asked for another £500 for the "floating" version !! Seriously, my DS2000's have been fine. I also know people that have recently done a track day with their kit with no problems. I would suggest you talk to your dealer first. Steve. |
DS2000 experience high wear at constant high temperatures. DS3000 are better for track use and will last.
Alternatives are available, try calling Roger Clark Motorsport and speak to :- Simon Chamberlain Roger Clark Motorsport Tel:+44 1455 828610 Fax:+44 1455 828620 e-mail: simon@rogerclarkmotorsport.co.uk OK !! |
