Anyone with any ideas what would cause a grinding sound from the front off side wheel when going round roundabouts and long corners
Sounds like the calliper scrapping on the disc but quite hard to see when you’re on the move.

I've had this problem on my MY97 for a few weeks, but it's mainly at low speeds and especially when cold. A few mechanincs I know have had a goodlook at it up on ramps but can't find anything wrong. They seem to think stones could be getting caught in the back plate of the brake assembly. This seems likely as I once had a metal foil dish trapped in there!

Hope this helps.

If the sound is a 'creaking' and is mainly heard going round the same direction of turn i.e mostly on left hand, then its more likely to be a wheel bearing. Remove the wheel and check for play.
Cheers!

we have had some cars where the disc flexes with the weight of the car and rubs on the backplate usally at the bottom of the disc try and pull the backplate away slightly and see if it goes
i doubt if it would be a wheel bearing on the front coz they cause more of a rumbling noise than a creak and every non turbo scooby suffers with rear wheel bearing failure not front.

If the disc is moving that much, it normally means the wheel bearings are history.
