Just wondered if you need to get tracking and wheel alignment seen to when upgrading wheels from 16" to 17". No problems at the moment, on the 16" wheels, as it was only done a few months back.

Any info. appreciated.

Cheers

If your alignment is already out, it will still be out; if it isn't, it won't be.

Going up a size does not alter caster/camber/toe.

Don't forget that when you go up on wheel size, you need to come down in tyre profile to maintain the same overall diameter. Keeps speedo reading correctly and avoids fouling etc. And don't go under 50mm offset to be safe.

Correct tyre sizes are 205/50x16, 205/45x17 or 215/40x17. All on 7in wide rims.

I've already got the wheels - PD7's and from what's been said I shouldn't need to do anything but get the tyres and stick the wheels on the car.

Thanks for the info.

Ensure that you get a matched set of tyres fitted. I had some Super Turismos supplied by a dealer with Pirelli P Zero on all four. One of the tyres was manufactured in Italy, the others in the UK. All of the markings were identical apart from the "Manufactured in..." part. With the mixture on the front the car veered very badly under power. On the back it was just unsettled. With all four the same everything ran true.

Within months of my experience Lotus issued a product bulleting to the same effect warning customers of this problem.
