I read somewhere that 17" Prodrive super t's can be machined to fit over 4 pots.
Is this right? If so How much needs taking off and is it safe. Cheers Phill. |
I think you would have to machine off metal from the back of the spokes, weakening them in the process. It would be a much simpler operation just to fit some suitably sized spacers to give them sufficient clearance at the front.

I've also been told that a spacer is OK to fit. Is this right ??

I had this very same problem when I had the Alcon brake upgrade from my 2 pots with super tourismos. In the end I decided that for the the sake of another set of wheels it wasn't worth; a, weakening the wheels - what effect?? b, fitting spacers - Handling?? Steve. |
I've heard that you can make the Ap 4-pot fit too, but it takes a lot of modification to the wheel or caliper.
I don't think it's a good idea either way. Buy another brand of wheels, that will have room for the big brakes. Wheels that have roome for the AP 4-pots are: Raceline RL7 and RL5, Compomotive, and TSW. Probably others too but those are the ones I know about. |
Thanks for the replies!
I'll try to sell them instead, seems the best option. Cheers Phill. |
Oddly enough, I was wondering the same thing about SuperT's and 4 pots... though I read that spacers will shorten the life of your wheel bearings.
Must be hard to part with them though. |
