I know this is a common replacement solution and I just noticed in the box that mine came in that EBC technical Department state that Scoobys 'absolutely require Red grade pads to be fitted'

That applies to both their grooved and plain discs.

I assume becuase they state they 'absolutely require' the red pads, if a disc gets warped while using green pads, your warranty is up the spout.

So who else is using Green pads in their scooby?

Hi Des,

I've been using Greenstuff on Turbo discs for over 6 months now, and they are fine for day-to-day driving (MY93 WRX & 2-pots).

Only had fade on a few occasions after fairly hard driving.

As far as I know, EBC have only been reccomending Redstuff for Scoobies in recent months. I avoided these because I wasn't sure of cold performance.

i was told to use greenstuff for the road and reds for the track - the reds need heat in them before they are at their best.

I have used the greens for 4K now - road use only - no probs

I used green stuff with well worn discs for 2 weeks (600miles) while I was waiting for my new car and was well inmpressed. had alcons with ds2000's on b4 and the green stuff bite was brilliant. I would 2nd paul re road / track use, I was told reds for the track as well. Speak with mark / elvis at tyres northampton for some advise if you are unsure

i am going for the yellow pads, for the next track day,as the reds only had 4mm of material left after 150 miles road use,to bed in and 30 laps of Knockhill.the reds still had more bite than the standards even when cold and were great on the day, just hoping the yellows last a bit longer.

Des,

Had greens on my WRX with black diamond cross drilled discs and they were brilliant.
They didn`t dirty the wheels an the wear rate woz good under all conditions be it on the road or the 1/4 strip. Saying that mine had an air groove in them but I believe the new 1s dont, an I`ve seen 2 cases of the new 1s cracking http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif BTW only reason I dont have them on now is I got a set of 4 pots from a P1 fitted or I`d still b using them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I ran Green Stuff on standard discs for about 7k it stopped well but I felt they wore out to quickly, so I changed to Red Stuff on standard discs. 2k down the road and the discs were s**gged. I've now got Red Stuff pads on turbo groove discs and the car stops on its nose every time, I've put about 5k on them and they are hardly worn, and the whole set was cheaper than one genuine subaru disc - Bargain!. The car is a standard 93 Legacy (180kg heavier than an Impreza) on 16" speedlines, I will definitely be using the reds again. Oh by the way the cold application thing isnt a noticeable issue.

That is the only reason I went for the Greens, as it is my wifes car, and I didn't want to have bad braking performance from cold.

EBC are 'now' basically saying that you should not use Green pads on an Impreza.

Maybe it is the change from with groove in pad to no groove that has caused this change?

hmmm, I feel a fax to EBC coming on :/

am using EBC green with Tarox 40 groove disks and have to admit they are VERY good, sooo much better than the standard disks and pads....IMHO

PeterPerfect 06 April 2001 09:15 PM

I'm still bedding greens into my standard MY99 disks.......
Lets hope I get less brake dust mess than the standard pads produced http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif
