Gatso'd!! - quick question

Hi, guys

I got flashed by a camera on Sunday (near Kingston on Thames) :(, 30 zone slight downhill – I was doing 30 when I passed it but let my speed increase, but only to about half way between 30 & 35 and as got half way along the markings it flashed twice – I was under the impression that they only flash above a certain speed + allowances and it added up to about 36 does this sound right???

Anyone got the link to that website with speed camera info on – I can’t search

Oh my saving grace might be a car that was behind me pulled out and seemed to accelerate sharply – but it was only just past the camera.

Thanks for any help BTW :) (If I seem to be ignoring replies I’m not I’m just going out and won’t be able to SNet until tomorrow moring)

just cos you were flashed doesn't *necessarily* mean that you'll get a ticket - i'd have no licence by now if every flash brought a NIP.

If you get an NIP then definately request the picture and do a count of the lines to work out your speed!

Supposed to be 10% + 2 mph so up to 35 you'd be ok.

OMG.. can these things actually flash you after you have gone past the camera?

I usually trundle past them, get a few meters past and re apply the right foot ;)

I assume you were coming down Kingston Hill, just past the hospital?

Quite a busy stretch of road, so if you are lucky the film would have run out! ;)

Don't forget that your speedo will slightly over read as well, so you may be borderline anyway! :)

Good luck whatever the outcome!

I was flashed by one yeserday but it was on the other side of the road, ie I was heading towards it. Does this still count? I hope not...

I've had one flash me coming towards it on the other side of the road. Never heard anything from it.

Nope, it won't count. In fact you could complain to the police for a badly aligned gatso.

I know where there a couple of Gatso's that go off the 'wrong' way. Had great fun me and my mates buzzing them, and giving 5 or 6 shots of us giving the finger!!

By the by - that stretch of road has one camera that does it - I always accelerate to set it off!

Damo
ps. I am on a bike. Wouldn't try this in a car!!

If there are lines on both sides of the road then it will probably be able to get you, However ive seen ones that are able to have the direction changed to face the other way.

just to confuse everybody a little more lol

Thanks for all the replies (I think it was near a hospital - but then I was tired, stressed and lost :D ), I guess I'll have to wait and see.
