wr1 and evo video

on autocarmagazine.co.uk, if anyone hasn't seen it. Evo's back end looks a bit more composed than the WR1.....

Ex_Pug 11 April 2004 01:59 PM

Evo looks a fair bit quicker to be honest.

would like to know which evo it is......if it's an FQ 300....s**t...!!

Jolley 11 April 2004 02:06 PM

How can you tell which one is quicker when they are following eachother?

Nick 11 April 2004 02:13 PM

Yes, the WR1 is using every inch of the track, the Evo is easily keeping up. It's certainly easier when you're behind, but we all know the Evo is a great track car, the WR1 is a great road car.

I think its their own long term car, which has just had the FQ330 upgrade.

sammyh 11 April 2004 02:24 PM

the evo looks quicker sometimes and then the scoob does - who cares ?

Rob D 11 April 2004 02:28 PM

Well if you cared so little, why bother posting?

To me, the WR1 looks flat out, and the Evo seems much more composed, keeping up without much of a problem.

I thought it was quite an interesting video to watch. But then I'm a car enthusiast, and I like that sort of thing.

What is the point in posting if you're just not interested?!http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/yeees.gif

Yes I can see that, but you do not know how hard the Scooby is trying or how easily the Evo is finding it. If they were the other way around I am sure the Scooby would keep up.

Nice to watch, but it doesn't really teach us a lot.

Its blatantly obvious the evo is he quicker car in that example, watch how the suspension handles the shifts in weight, the scoob twitches and bobs on the exit of corners where power is put down, where as the evo is more stable.

I knew I shouldn't have written anything !!

Yes, it is more stable... but to be quicker, it would have to be going faster (which by virtue of the fact that it is FOLLOWING AT THE SAME SPEED, is physically impossible).

Please do not get upset, and realise that my last comment (although true :D) is only to wind you up.

Yes, Evo's are generally quicker....... no, sorry, given up the will to live since talking about cars became so competitive! :)

It's just an observation, but what it looks like to me, is that the Evo would be capable of going faster, had the WR1 not been in front of it. It just looks that much more composed.

You certainly gave up the will to live easily! I don't know why some folk have to see everything as being competitive. Can discussions not be had without people dropping down dead at the sight of an alternative view point? :D

What I was trying to say is lets not start another EVO v Scoob debate  both fine cars but its been discussed time and time again :p

Brian the Sn@il 11 April 2004 04:32 PM

Mmmkay. Was just quite literally commenting on what was seen in the vid since it was posted. I hate that we have to be carefull in here about getting into such debates for fear of someone losing it and getting into a flame war, or some such. But that's the way it is I guess. :(

SC008Y_MAD 11 April 2004 07:26 PM

The WR1 seems to be pushing realy hard and the EVO is just crusing, staying in touch with the scoob. its like the evo is geiing held up by the scoob and wants to get past as it seems to have better traction out of the courners, that'll be the active diffs thingy! this is shown in 0.25-0.29 sec on the video! And it aslo looks like the EVO has better straight line speed!....So to sum up both of the cars, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi WR1, the Evo is the better track car annd the Scoob is the better on A- B roads.

catflap 11 April 2004 11:04 PM

seems to be the opinion here then..

IN that example the evo looks more stable...nothing more .....nothing less....

Wo knows? the scooby dude, may be deliberatly chucking the car around more? (they do turn in more violently than the evo driver) who are we to say. :)

notsofurious 11 April 2004 11:16 PM

the scoob is quicker, the Evo had to stop for an oil change half way round....
