Turbo Blast!
 

This is normally the procedure i have to carry out to leave my petrol station!
( Shell, Marlborough Road, Swindon)
Its a main road and i have to get the turbo out to get accross the road to go home. I could sit there for a bigger gap but i havent had any children yet and am only 24! I have a lot of things still to do and dont want to sit there growing a beard!!

So to the point i hear you cry!

Obviously like most of us, the nearest shell garage is on the other side of the country and by the time i get to it, the beast is nice and warm.
So i put my ob in and top up with a tenner and proceed to the launch position. Get the turbo out and am away.

Will this cause any damage to the car loading up the turbo so soon after starting it up or is it ok due to the fact that it had already warmed up on the way to the petrol station?

While you are switched off and filling up the heat soak will cause inlet temps to be quite high on re-start and these will remain high until you are moving for a while and cool air passes through the intercooler. I certainly would not use much, if any, boost until I've been moving for a while.
My 03STi with PPP actually holds back the boost level when it senses the inlet temp is above a pre-determined level. This illustrates that hot air + high boost is not a good combination!

Is there any 'best' method to fill up? I usually try and fill up after arriving back home from work or a reasonable drive, so that the engine is warm.

Is that better than pulling out of my drive, then stopping and starting the engine again 2 minutes later, while coldish (my local shell is very close)
