Xp and Merian PCs (again!!!!)
 

Hi all,

As some of you may remember I was trying t fix a median pc with rambus modules. I got the rambus modules cheap but im trying to re install XP home.

The actual disk itself is a MS copy of XP home, rather than a restore disk. The actual CD key is on the machine, but when I try and use that serial key it won't accept it.

Has anyone got any ideas on this? It's a legit key with a legit copy of the OS but it wont accept it. I guess it was installed using a generic key etc but surely the key on the machine should work ?

possibly adding/changing the memory has altered the xp home key, you'll need to contact microsoft for a new one if this is the case.

It would originally have been installed using a generic OEM key from a master disk set, but the key on the case should work, but only with a Median XP disk / restore disk which may have been supplied with the PC. You cannot use that key with a retail copy.
