Screen get's brighter on start-up?
 

Any ideas? Just gets a bit brighter when loading start-up programs.

Only happened today after I fitted a milti USB adapter on my XP pro laptop.

Now it won't go away.

Also are there any other good 'Windows' problem solving programs.

I did have Norton System Works but it won't work with new Mcafee AV.

Does it stay brighter or go back to original brightness after its finished loading up?

Stays bright.

Look in start, programs, startup & see if there is anything there called a gamma loader.

Gamma loader is used to set the screen display for software like Corel Draw. If you have any dtp software in use, you should leave it, otherwise just right-button on the gamma loader shortcut in the startup menu & delete it.

The one's that NortonSW used to find and clean up.

I don't know if I have any 'till I run an app like NSW.

System just seems slow and in need of a refreshment!! ;)
