IPOD Help
How do I if possible copy a mates IPOD on to my PC without wiping his? Can it be done?
I-Tunes seems to only go one-way so to speak? I would really like his music so any help will be greatly appreciated. Ta v much |
I don't know of any PC programes but it is possible. I use iPod Access v3.1 here on the Mac and it flies through. It even keeps the other data like song ratings and playlists in order.

Thanks. Apparently there is some shareware for it but I cant find it !! arrghhh!!!
I have faith that someone will have the answer for me. |
Enable the iPOd for disk use on the second machine - right click the iPOD icon in iTUnes - close iTunes. Start | Search, choose the iPOD drive letter, search for *.mp3 or whatever files you want from the iPOD, drag and drop them all into a directory on your machine.

bit of a hi-jack.
I have an older (5gig) pod and I am using MusicMatch. From what I can gather iTunes has replaced this as the software bundled with newer pods. Where can I get my hands on a copy of iTunes ?? |

Steve How did you get it and I hope there are more on their way. |
Letdown. Corrrect. Then use search as the files you're after will be all over the drive. You can then use iTunes to organise them on your machine.

Podutil is excellent software for taking tunes off a Pod and transferring to a PC.

Right so far. I have copied the ipod no problem! But how on earth do I get them into ITUNES?? I have tried everything but to no avail? any ideas?
Please !! |
Drag and drop onto the Library icon or the area where the tracks would be listed. Either that or go into the Preferences and point iTunes to the folder where you have stored all your music.
Beware that adding your songs to the iPod library will COPY them to the location where iTunes wants to store your music. So delete the originals after you have checked that they have found their way into the correct iTunes folder. |
Noooooooooooooooooooooo!
I downloaded iTunes ...yeah ! I hooked up the Pod....yeah ! iTunes went through whatever it does..............And it wiped 4.5gig of tunes off the Pod !!! whats worse is that I dont have the originals as I bought the Pod with them on!!:( Any way of retrieving them ?? .....dare say they are lost for ever |
Nope, they will be gone.
When you plug the iPod in, it comes up with a warning stating if you sync with this machine the iPods library will be replaced with your computers library. You must have clicked OK. Sorry but it appears they are gone for good. |
bugger

Kazaa?
|
Serves you right :D
|
Oh hang on, if you've managed to get them off the iPOD then you just need to import them then sync your iPOD. Job done. Ahoy there Captain, it's a pirates life for you.
