Hosting services.

Does anyone know of any good , cheap (or free:)) hosting companies.
I need to have unlimited bandwidth , SQL or prefferably MS Access , with database support ?? Not too bothered about email forwarding or a massive amount of webspace (10 MB is enough)

Unzip capabilty would also help, but if not then just FTP uploads

(dont want much do I :D )

What about Maddy's hosting company?

IanW 05 April 2004 08:44 PM

Personally I have found that you get what you pay for when it comes to Web Hosting, If you want something like that for Free then Lycos actually support most of that for free.

HOWEVER you end up with them placing adverts on your site.

Titan Internet would be worth a look. I use them, bloody great service and support. the Win50 account might be what you want (50 quid a year plus VAT, I *think*)

Alan C 05 April 2004 08:52 PM

I think Titan have a bandwidth limit of 500 MB a month at this price.

If the site transfers more than that (busy BB) then you may be back to where you started..

what would scooby do 05 April 2004 09:20 PM

Do titan have a "web control panel" i.e. can you change dns settings A records MX etc on-line now..

Before I had to ring them up - a bit silly...

MadGrip 05 April 2004 09:35 PM

The host I'm using at the moment says I have 1000mb per month, but when you start modifying the asp data base , and then up/downloading files to it , it soon adds up.

The hosts say "WE OFFER UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH TO OUR MEMBERS" and I am a member and have requested this in numerous emails, but still the site keeps dieing due to "BANDWUDTH EXEDEDED"

Looks likw I'm gonna have to dig deep.:(

Phil

BTW the site is back up at the moment www.wyioc.com :)

P.S. Alan,I'll have a chat with Maddy and find out what his server provides, as not all allow databases or cater for MS access

Another vote for Titan internet

http://www.titanhosts.co.uk/windows_hosting.htm

Go for the WIN100 package, the 50 dos'nt have SQL/Access etc

:D

edit: Titan Don't count ftp traffic towards your bandwith either :)

thanks for the suggestions so far.

I just had a look at the WIN100 package, and apart from all the email addresses ,I get the rest of the stuff on there for free at the moment.
