CD writing problems.
A neighbour is having problems writing Audio cd's, it writes data cd's ok but not audio, the facts
Packard bell pc running XP CD Writer Combo Roxio Easy CD creator, has tried others such as Nero to no avail. I went thru the process with him and he isnt doing anything wrong, no hardware problems are apparent, the cd goes through the motions and appears to write but when you play it no sound, the cd player recognises that there are tracks there but nothing can be heard on either the pc, a domestic stereo or my car stereo. Normal cd's play ok on the machine. Thanks Mark |
Perhaps burning too fast?
I have found that if i burn an audio CD at 48x or 52x, half of the tracks go AWOL. Like you say, the player recognises a track and its length but no sound is apparent. For a reliable audio CD, i wouldn't burn any faster than 16x Paul |
daft question-are you closing/finalising the cd?, or leaving an open session?
|
Dropped it down from 16X to 8X and finalised the cd, I thought that was the problem as well.

are you writing audio cd's from mp3's or wav's  or just dragging tracks over from another cd?? if you are dragging tracks over from another cd it will only copy the icon and not the actual track, if this is the case try ripping the cd into mp3 tracks and then burning them onto a disc.
hope this helps ;) |
No have copied Wav files as my neighbour hasnt quite grasped compression yet.
