Hi,

I am thinking of replacing my brake discs and pads all-around.

Firstly, what would you guys recommend, I initially wanted grooved + drilled discs but now understand that just grooved would be better?

Secondly, what pads would you recommend considering that the car is not used on a track?

Finally, what brake pad shapes will I need? The car is an MY94 WRX with standard rear discs and pads and recent (October) P1 4-pots on the front (inc P1 discs).

thanks,
Matt.

Matt,

I have an STI 5 which has gone through 3 different disk and pad combinations;

Std disks and pads - Crap performance, no feel under hard use, lots of fade, cracked disks after 1000 miles.

Alcon GrpN disks/ Mintex 1155 pads - still pretty poor power under hard use, still loads of fade and no feel when pushing hard. Never had much confidence that I could jusdge breaking distance due to the way that the performance of the brakes used to go off when hot.

Have now put on the GrpN disks and Ferodo DS4003 pads from TSL and they are fantastic. They bite really well and have loads of power. Their performance seems to stay constant so in conjunction with the improved feel, it now means that I can brake in the confidence that I know the car will stop. I would definitley recommend them, they are in a different league to the standard 4 pot setup.

You can get the contact details for TSL from the banner ad.

Chris.
