If you've got warped discs and they are not too old/worn then my experience is that you can get them skimmed. This has cured the problem and it has not reoccured. This is because the discs have done all the warping that they are going to and no more heat distortion will happen.

Just thought I'd share that with you (I have gone through many discs on various cars, including Brembo's - they're the worst, before I tried this and it worked.

By the way, a side affect if you don't get the discs sorted immediately, is that it shags your steering rack as well as suspension bushes.

I've had disks skimmed too. £10 per disc is a darn sight cheaper than new disks.

Question (not trying to be clever (as if))?
Skimming (removing the top surface)of disks will reduce their thickness. This being the case it will also reduce their ability to dissipate heat thus heating up and warping again?

Hello all , We have been supplying performance brakes for about 10 years , we have found that most of the time when a disc warps , it's the bell that goes out of shape from the pad area of the disc , When we skim a disc to true it up we clock the disc backwards in a lathe and clock it up to within 1 thou , and take up to 5 thou off the inside of the bell where it touches the drive flamge , doing it this way gets rid of the warp and doesn't waste any disc life , Most people would clock the centre of the disc and skim both pad area's , The only time you will not true the disc back the way I do them is if the disc has cracks in the vent and either side of the disc has separated , in which case I would throw them away , Hope this helps , Ian , Godspeed ,

I had this trouble with Bremspsort discs - push them hard and the steering starts to shake. But press them gently as in normal driving and they were fine.

In other words, they ran true when cool/warm but developed a warp when hot. So unless they could be skimmed when hot the cure wouldn't work.
