OSX Panther - WOW!!!! what a difference

Been running 10.2.6 then 10.2.8 until today. TBH not impressed. As an avid Mac fan for the last 10 years, I thought it was sh1te :(

My studio (midi/audio) was a total mess - unreliable and crashed alot. God knows how much work I've lost because of it

However, the red mist has cleared. Out comes Panther - only got it today and the difference is astounding

It's quick and mu MIDI/AUDIO config hasn't wiped itself (yet ;))

Very impressed - been waiting to get this because I was thinkign "better the devil you know", but I now wish I'd bought it when it first came out!!!

One hopes you are updated to 10.3.3! if not then do it, but download the combination 10.3.3 updater and use that to update.

Panther is pretty good, quicker than 10.2 and fixes a fair few bugs.

Only downside, and this is from a development point of view is that a LOT has changed under the hood, meaning things that worked in 10.2 won't work, or work differently in 10.3, and thus recoding needs to be done. We've fixed a lot of problems in 10.2 and found they have resurfaced in 10.3, so we fix them in 10.3, and find other things then get broken in 10.2! grrrrrrrrrrr. Makes testing a total and utter nightmare, really does. I have to run everything single test twice, and usually end up with different results on the different OS versions. Then clients comment that 10.3 isn't that much different to 10.2! lol
I'm seriously considering that we change OS requirements and start to require 10.3. support 10.2, but don't bug fix for it anymore. Tis a tricky thing to do though.

Will be interested to see what 10.4 (allegedly called Tiger) will bring.

Any news on 10.4?

Yes, I did do a total upgrade - about 85Meg.
Will be putting 10.3 seriously through it's paces tonight, when I get back in the studio.....
will be intrigued to see how good it really is

10.4 is rumored to be almost completely hands free control. Speech control abilities, are the only things I've heard.

It sounds interesting though. Just have to wait for the WWDC 04 to see.
