I need to get a set of replacement pads for my AP 4-pots asI think they may wear out sometime on or after the 30th of December http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I have spoken to mike at Scoobymania and I have the following options available:

* AP Japan (std. fitament pads)
* DS2000
* Pagid Blues (I think)
* Performance Fiction Carbon Metallic

and there are probably othters too such as EBC Green, Yellow and Red stuffs.

Basically I've been quite happy with the std pads...disk wear is very good (i.e. they are hardly touched, no deep groves on the edges of the disks etc).

Can anyone comment on their experiences with any of the above pads ??? or recommend anything else.

I am cautious of DS3000s for road use as they will take ages to heat up...and it seems they have been quite destructive when used with Alcons.

Any advice or views would be of great help.

Hi mate.
PFC 93 compound are my favourite but they are quite hard on the discs. I am hoping to try 83's soon.
DS3000's are ace but wear the disc at an alarming rate. DS2000's may be better.
No EBC pad is really up to track use.
Never tried Pagid myself.

I have the Pagids in my six pots, they do take AGES to bed in but they are very good once theyve settled, nice feel and reliable.

Much dust was on my P1 rims for a good few weeks and i only washed it off yesterday using Zymol wash only (no alloy wheel cleaner) and two washes of the front rims got it all off.

I am concerned that the PFC's may be a little harsh for the road in terms of how long they take to get up to temp.

Basically...the Ap japans seemed to do the trick...but I think the pad surface is probably knackered after the heat they receive at a gymkana http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Stef, let me know how you get on with the softer compound carbon metalics...maybe that is the way to go.

Sunil...so are you saying the DS2000s deposit a load of brake dust on your wheels...or you don't clean your car often enough http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

My brother runs DS2000s with Tarrox 44groove disks on his R11 Turbo...it could easily outbrake my scooby on the old std 2 or 4 pots...they are a good pad.

I'll keep watching the thread.

Ian, I'm in exactly your position and, following your post, have just mailed Scoobymania to order a set of DS2000 before the standard AP Japan give up.

Like you, I've found the AP Japan pad pretty good. Perhaps a fraction hesitant when cold, but mine have done 5,000 hardish miles and one track day, and they're only half worn.

I'm going for DS2000 as they were just superb in every way when I had them as a Prodrive upgrade (nothing like the DS3000 which seem to be universally disliked). Unfortunately, the DS2000 were just too good for standard or Group N discs which either fell to pieces or warped - hence the AP kit.

If I can't get DS2000, I'll try the Pagid Blues which come highly recommended.

AP Japan's are good on the track but seem to lose some of their performance after one track day - still good but never quite the same after 1 hard track day.

Recently bought PFCs (for track only) - have not had time to try them yet. Will keep the AP Japan's for the road.

Ian, I run the PFCM Z rated pads on the road, and the 83 compound for the track.

I have a BIG disc setup on the car. This takes some time to warm up. But no fade as yet.
