Hello

I am new to the world of Scoobies and I must say that after getting my new Scooby this weekend I am having more fun than I have ever had in a car before.

I have been browsing this forum and think that it's great that you guys let others learn from your obvious experience with all things Scoob.

Anyway - cringeworthy stuff over.

I can't believe how fantastic the AWD is. I haven't done anything stupid yet but the way that the car handles just brings a big grin to my face every time I press the accelerator.

Any advice to a new owner on what to avoid in the world of Subaru dealers and service people etc?

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Get yourself along to a meet and get a Scoobysport back box once you've heard it !!

What model did you go for ??

How does that sound compared to a prodrive BB?

what would a complimentary downpipe and centre section be?

AWD, sorry for digressing on your thread...

To see the comparison between the Prodrive BB and the Scoobysport BB, you've only got to look at the number of people selling their Prodrive BB's.

A mate at work has the Prodrive box which is an improvement on the standard box but sounds a bit tame compared the the Scoobysport box. If you've not heard a Scoobysport , I was very worried about sounding like one of the Max Power crew , and yes its fairly loud and sounds deep but doesn't make you feel stupid.

for chipping the car I suggest you do a search on the following
Unichip
Possum Link / Link ECU
Power Engineering Phase 1 / PE Phase 1
Superchip

The general feeling is avoid anything that acts like a boost clamp i.e. Superchip, as this essencially fools the ECU into seeing lower boost than you actually have, this can be bad news as the fuelling and advance/retard will be wrong.

The PE Phase 1 has had some bad press but was once the favorite option, I'm still happy with mine.

The choice between the other 2 can be down to if you want to play with it yourself, Possum can be adjusted by you (or a passanger) in the car, Unichip can't. Your best bet is to come along to a meet where you will usually find at least 2 different ECU mods. I think your choice should be more down to whos doing the work, as the quality of the map is more important than the bit of kit used.

How do the BBs sound when you're doing 80+mph? I mean I don't want to be deafened or vibrated out of my wits by a combine harvester attached to the rear of my car.

I was also considering getting the car tuned at some point. Do you think that I should look at someone like Superchips for this?

I've found the ScoobySport exhaust not bad at all at motorway speeds (i.e. 80/84). Not really that noticeable above the road noise.

Wouldn't have a Scooby with out one.

I'm in two minds at the minute whether to upgrade my stereo system, because of the nice noise the S/S makes.... SAD ???????

Darren.

I'm definitely going to look into the BBs. Are they likely to annoy neighbours when idling or at low speeds?

Who cares !!! :o)
I keep meaning to phone ScoobySport and order my b/b. Reading this thread has prompted me still further !

On the ECU side, I've been swayed by the Link system and BR Developments are fitting mine next month along with an STi boost gauge and an HKS induction filter. Hopefully I'll notice some difference and report back !!!

Not sure what scoob you have but something worth considering are some ex P1 gold alloys. Made my 96MY look the dogs ! Not good though if you don't want every (and I mean every) kid from 8-18 yrs old staring at you !! :o)

Neil.

Will those P1 gold alloys fit on my UK spec Justy?

Just kidding....
