Web cam stopped working on messenger?
 

I've had a web cam for a few months now and I've had sucessful video and audio meetings on messenger with it.

It's decided to stop working! The audio is still OK both ways and I can still receive a video feed for the far end but mine won't work.

I've checked the cam and it works locally (can do live feed to screen/stills and vid capture). I've even bought another just incase.

On messenger the drop down option to stop video is ticked but I can't seem to toggle it?

Any ideas? Firewall?

Could be firewall related - what have you changed since it last worked ?

Depending on how it works you may actually have to completely de-install the firewall & re-boot to get it to work.

Tell us EXACTLY what has changed if anything. The fact that you are getting audio means that the firewall "appears" to be ok as messenger doesn't use different IP ports for audio and video.

You're right, the firewall isn't stopping the audio and I can't think of anything I've done to stop it working.

I bought another proper web camera on Sat and downloaded version 6.1. Tried sending the web cam option and it worked! Not sure what is going on though. Other options to get the cam working didn't work. It seems a bit hit and miss. I'll do some more experimenting.
