Can any doctors on here let me know if there has been any cases that they know of where a parent has actually caused an illness to happen to a child in a case of MBP? Are MBP fained illnesses all made up or do some disturbed parents actually induce an illness somehow by what ever means?

I thought MSBP was almost always "suffered" by females (ie 90/95%) and generally involves infants.

There was a radio programme on this a while back. The mother feigned illness on her daughter and even made her have surgery based on her "evidence" of a disease / complaint. It was obviously a long time betweenn first seeing the dr and the surgery, but this one girl suffered for nearly 17 years, from birth.

As she'd grown up being "sickly" she'd come to believe it herself.
