blackjax

why does my blackjax only shut the engine down sometimes? brake lights flash, siren goes off, engine still runs. taken it back twice now, works mostly evertime when the shop looks at it, but when i forget to enter code and just drive off it dont shut down, shop did adjust the rev setting just incase that might be the prob, but still the same

IIRC...

It will only shut down the engine when it's safe to do so, i.e. when the vehicle comes to a near standstill. This is for obvious reasons such as loss of steering / braking at high speeds.

However, it could be a faulty unit. My first one allowed me to drive the ten miles to work if I forgot to disarm, without blinking an eyelid. It would then go off when I parked the car and got out. Needless to say it got replaced pretty quickly :)

The Blackjax needs to see a rise and then a fall in the rpm monitoring or it will not shut the engine down .This is to stop it Blackjaxing at high engine rpm/speed .If the rpm value has been set too high it wont shutdown, likewise if they have gone on to the wrong rpm pulse wire with no change in pulses it wont shut down either.

Do not bother with clifford BlackJaxx i have spoken to a few alarm companies now about having this fitted, and on there advice i was told not to bother most of them will not touch clifford stuff now due to problems with units going wrong after a short amount of time and also with warranty claims. I am going to have a different better system fitted my car.

Just a word of warning thats all you can go your own way by all means.

No probs here either after almost 2 years of daily use. As with all Clifford products, their reliability and effectiveness seems to be dependent on proper fitting. Not all alarm specialists, even Clifford Authorised dealers, are sufficiently skilled to do the job. (See Ajax's recent thread for example.)

I bet the guy who bothered with Blackjax who had keys stolen from his house the other night would dissagree with you???
I have had no problems with Blackjax at all...

Blackjax is the difference between getting a car back or a smouldering shell

Tis a PITA when coming from round the back of the house to the front to pick up the maud cos the house alarm can only be set from the front :(

Hi Guys,

Wonderin if anyone can help. Blackjax was workin fine. Then for some reason i decided I would play arround and check that the RMP setting was right so followed instructions and went into "Installer-Programmable Features" then unmark key once and * key 5 times whilst engine idleing (@about 800 RPM). Bleeped twice. Turned off engine and now......Damn blackjax doesnt work any more! Anyone any ideas.

Cheers
