anyone know about wiring
 

just fitted boost guage and now i need to tap into a lights wire so it switches on at the same time

anyone know which colour this is under the dash

also i assume we are on brown for earth, black for neg and red for bat+

anyone???

I wired mine back to the cigarette lighter, just because it was easy to get at.. So mine is lit up all the time.

I have a radio, tape and cd holder in the centre

Fitted my boost gauge the other day, wired the light into the back of the heated window switch. There are four wires, two earths and two other colours. (Brown and yellow iirc.) One powers the actual heated window the other does switch illumination.
The yellow one on mine (early uk car) was the one for the illumination. Comes on just with the lights, sweet :)

Thats the same dash by the sounds of it. I was puttin some electro luminessent white clock faces in at the same time (looks the biz day and night :D)so had all that area in bits already.
You could deffo get at it by removing the two screws at the top of the binnacle and also the two just under the surround. To be honest though I suspect you are right that with a bit of force the switch would just pop out.

If not then those four screws will allow you to lift out the surround and tap into the wires required. I used a gash bit of wire and a sidelight bulb to make sure I had the right wires. Homemade multimeter! :)
