Oil pressure gauge question?

I'm going to be fitting an oil pressure gauge soon (an electical autometer Z-series unit) and this will involve replacing the standard oil pressure sensor with the new autometer sensor (via a short pipe to enable fitting).

My question is - what should I do with the existing wire that was connected to the original pressure sensor?? I guess if I don't connect it somewhere, there will be a low oil pressure warning light on the instrument panel all the time?

Any ideas what I should so.

Thanks,

Chris.

You can just tie it out the road or leave it hanging lose. It won't bring on the warning light. An alternative would be to use a t-piece adaptor and run with both.

I just replaced mine with my SPA sender and tied the OE connector out the way. No problems so far [/touch wood]

I have some pics on my website if you need any help fitting it.

Cheers for the info mate, I was worried that having it not connected would cause the warning light to come on.

Thanks,

Chris.

pockman.
the oil pressure switch works by short circuiting when pressure is low.
so just disconnecting it will mean you will have no oil warning light ever, not illuminated all the time .
best way is t piece , then you will still have switch illuminating light on dash.
ive got a Racimex gauge where sender has switch built in , so goes both :D
