Had to remove the brake duct grills on the front spoiler of my P1 'cos all the paint was falling off... hmmm... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

So what did I find behind them???

Did I find ducting to the brakes? Did I find a cool piece of ABS that guided the airflow from these sizeable and useful looking ducts past the engine aiming at the brakes? Did I f$ck...

The big black ducts in the front lead into a void behind the spoiler, possibly later dispersing towards the engine... There are a couple of little ducts in the 'special' P1 lip spoiler that seem to sort of aim air at the wheels, but the huge useful looking ones do nothing.

So, does anyone know of a kit to do something useful with this duct? I could get some aluminium corrugated and secure it around past the engine (done this before on old rally escorts in the past) but you would think there was a proper part!

I really like the P1, but I have to say it... Why the hell make a car like that and then put such crap brakes and exhaust on it? OK I forked out for a new exhaust (Sound much better http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ) but I have completely destroyed 2 sets of disks so far (the first set nearly cracked in half!) Why the hell should I pay £1500 for a Prodrive ‘Upgrade’ that should be on the £32K car in the first place?

Yeah...you tell 'em! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Stef.
PS I too am looking into fitting some permanent ducting, as my MY98 already has sizeable ducts in the front spoiler, unlike the newer cars. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Standard brakes aren't up to serious use, are they? I've just had the 16in AP kit fitted by ScoobyMania and it's awesome. Hitting the brakes is like hitting a wall. And they'll do it again and again and again. Oh, and they also save a whopping 1.6 kilos (16%) of unsprung weight.

Anyway, while Mike Tuckwood was fitting them, he told me they had some prototype ducting made up and were hoping to market something soon.

Care to spill the beans, Mike?

Yep, OK.

We've had some Air ducts made to fit on the lower spoiler, Black with Bright Red Inners, mounting will most likely be via 2 x number plate screws or similar?

I will finish it off this week and put it up on our web site, with a link on here for those who are interested?

Price will be in the £60 -£70 area (+VAT).
