Right...I need a new broadband provider - who's best ?

Moving to Beeston in Nottingham in 4 weeks

Currently with NTL on a cable modem (600K @ £24.99), good broadband service - Very bad customer service, (un)fortunately they dont cover the area of my new house so i'll need a new ISP.

Who's got the best deal for the speed at the moment, i want free installation and a good customer service reputation will be beneficial too. (is this too much to ask i wonder).

Just in case - Not too sure if my new house is gonna have cable so who does broadband through a telephone line.

I use PIPEX on ADSL. They are good. £23.44 a month for 512kbit.

If you dont have cable, you'll need adsl. ADSLGuide will point you in the right direction. Use the "Availability Check" on the left nav to see if your new postcode is adsl enabled, otherwise you might need Telewest.

There are hundreds of different ADSL providors, BT put the analogue line in and you get the adsl service from someone else (dont go with BT). I personally use [ur=www.zenadsl.co.uk]Zen[/url] but everyone has their personal favourite.

best deals? how about www.bulldogdsl.com or www.cpbb.co.uk? another one to consider is pipex (no actvation fees if you stay with them for 12 months).

Defo avoid the BT Yahoo broadband services.

I'd give Eclipse a thumbs up - have them at several sites and zero agro :)

You might struggle to find free installation.

thanks guys, keep em coming

ASDL is looking likely i think, will steer clear of BT then by the looks of it, are they really that bad ?

If you can't get cable from NTL or Telewest, ADSL is your only fixed line option.

Plusnet here & don't mind recommending them.

John.

Nildram, not one drop out in over a year, 50mb free webspace and unlimited e-mail addresses.

Pipex or Nildram

Pipex, had it over 6 months, not a single drop out yet. 50 meg of web space, email addresses and aliases, and good customer support.

Redkop 23 March 2004 08:48 PM

Eclipse is extremely good

Another vote here for Pipex - a few friends and colleagues took my recommendation for them and have had no hassle with them.

Chris,

I also went for Eclispe (£24). They are an Exeter based company with fantastic customer service. Highly recommended.

Cheers.

You might be tempted by Bulldog; they win industry awards and they can offer you a 1Mbps (off-peak; ie not office hours and while youre at work) connection for £25 per month. They do this to utilise their redundant bandwidth as they deal principally with business (9-5 stylee) customers.

Bears thinking about doesnt it? How about 2Mbps for £30 per month.....if you need the speed.

NTL are the best and their 600K broadband service is great! It is £25 a month

plue NTL service is Cable, this is better than ADSL!

Hmmm, says who? NTL? Upload speed is less on cable, so might affect your gaming.

I have the 1MB line from Nildram and they come thoroughly recommended. Great quality of line, but best of all, superb customer service and tech support.
