John ....
Brilliant vid footage ...... the 911 was a good bit " oh look a 911 " http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif looks like you were having a whale of a time .... the heavy breaking looked a bit of a scary moment though, but I noticed you kept it in a straight line http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif only took about 8 seconds to download here at work http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif well worth it .... Kev |
8 seconds, bloody hell. It took me an hour at home last night http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
|
About a 1.28 then...
Thank goodness my Internet link is faster than your car... |
John
I am on a fast link here in the office ... just no way of getting things home when I download them ! So it's a view 'n' dump ! but a crakin vid all the same, shame it was'nt forward mounted ... unless the speed blew it around http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Kev |
He just wanted to see their faces when he overtook them. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Was the safety car out in front of you or something??? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Top footage John |
I am still in shock http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
What a car! at 140 in Johns car felt like I was really having a nosebleed, no joke! |
Hi All,
One lap was a 1.23 on the day. And the Lister Storms were doing 1.10 - 1.15. I'm in the process of doing a few more videos for the 'net but will probably be in ASF format as MPEG is too huge. And yes there is also forward facing stuff too. The "Exhaust-cam" however failed as the camera shut down after 2 minutes due to "Code C31:00 = Excessive Shock / Or Over heating" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Much of the footage is very shaky even using a very solid clamp. I guess camcorders are just not designed to sit in 140 mph wind flow http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif I'm currently looking into a solid state camera system that uses very high res. "pinhole" cameras (x4) and a capture board/laptop combination. But as you would expect, not cheap http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Cheers Ian |

yep, my quickest lap was 1min 23 secs when i plucked up enough courage to take craner flat and got coppice right.
I recon on slicks i would be sub 1min 20's which is pretty bloody quick for a road legal car. I was checking the lap times from the esprit last time at donno and that was lapping in 1min 16 secs on F3000 slicks and F1 aerodynamics with a 420BHP 5 litre V8, so my 1min 23secs looks pretty respectable. It was actually quicker than a full race 4.2Litre SEiGHT on slicks in the esprits race. Cant wait for silverstone now, gonna be on slicks for that i think. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Kev....
the brake lockup was cool...I was the passenger in the car at the time (correct me If I'm wrong john). Those willwood brakes are top bananna...you have to be thinking quite quick as a passenger...it was quite hairy when we passed my expected braking point and we still hadn't hit the anchors...what I laugh...and I have complete faith in Mr. Felstead. Ian (Now resuming normal sleeping paterns after nearly 48 hours without sleep) |
Ian,
Was it a case of finding out adrenalin's brown !! Does look a great controled braking manourvre http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif just wished I was in it at the time ..... K |
John,
Excellent footage, are you sure you didn't speed up the film :-) I've read loads of posts about you're car before, here and on the RS site. I don't suppose you've got some technical specs / piccies etc available on the web ? The reason I ask is, I'm having a friend round this weekend who is thinking about selling his MY99 to buy a shed (road car) and a racing Caterham. Can't help thinking he's making a mistake buying a (1.6 Classic) Caterham when he could buy a Westie which he could later upgrade to a real engine (V8 / or Maybe a Cossie as per your's) Cheers Ps any more vid's available ? I think I may be able to sway him. |
John,
Looks like someone speeded up the video and slowed down the other cars... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL Mike |

Ive just realised watching that footage! That was my car with the camera strapped to it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif mustn't grumble http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
|
John,
I had to think quick because I was half asleep...I didn't want to fill my pants with the nasty brown stuff by not anticipating an 'event'....it certainly woke me up http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif It was a complete giggle... Ian |
Bloody hell!
I wish all co-drivers were as alert as you! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Regards Simon (jealous of all that power http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif) |
I've got some video from my MGF days here:
