ITG filter

How do you clean one of these?

If they're like K&N, then the place you bought it from should sell cleaning kits. They usually have a solvent cleaning fluid, brush and oil for recoating.

ITG filters though are infamous for causing MAF sensor failure due to the excessive oilyness. Might be better to bin it and get a suitable replacement. JR Racing/Green/K&N are still oiled cotton gauze, but don't have the bad reputation, and the paper STi filter (group buy currently running) is very good with no possible side effects but needs changing at service.

I agree with corradoboys comments re the replacement, especially if you have a classic scoob.

No there is no cleaning kit for the ITG. What they say is to clean it, you have to wipe it down with a lint free cloth. Dont be scared of getting residue / oil on the cloth as this is normal. Once you have wiped it down give it a few bangs to loosen and get rid of any particles buried in the gauze, then put back. ITG say this should be done every 5,000 miles and the filter is good for upto 40,000 miles.
