Knocklink - no red light

thats good you may be thinking, however.....

Bought a knocklink 2 weeks ago from BRD in the group buy, fitted it more or less straight away and after fitting the ic back on i realised forgot to carry out a test, ie knocking on the bolt or on the block next to the sensor.

Today, im fitting a new heat shield and VTA BOV so while the ic is off i thought i'd check the knocklink - all lights lit up except red !!

Now ive been driving it recently and occasionally i get both ambers (sti5 unmapped - so kinda expected), what worries me is, is my knocklink a duff one and if it is have i probably been getting red lights where its not been showing.

if its a duff one, a. should i get BRD to change it for a new one and b. how do i test the red led and if its knacked can i change the led

Have you thought that it could be the vta dv thats causing you problems here and is leaning the mixure out but not enough to show a red light but enough to cause damage? (the reason vta's are not recommended for use on imprezas btw).

vta dump valves dont lean out mixtures ???

His problem is his red light doesnt work, how would having a vta dumpvalve fitted cause that

errr

i havnt even put the DV on yet, its on the floor next to the car lol, I'm just tw4ting the bolt to check the lights.

doesnt a VTA DV would make it run richer anyway, hence flames :D

I would speak to BRD if it was me :)

For that one cycle it does, then the ecu corrects as its seen the car running too rich, by this time you have returned to normal but the ecu is still a step behind, so as it then adds more air it leans your mixture out, thus your running lean again, thus the reason dta are not good with imprezas (unless mapped for them to compensate).
