'Nitrous Race Formula'

As the title how much of this stuff would i have to add to 44 litres of Optimax fuel.. what would be the correct ratio..please help very interested in using it.. 95/95 jap wrx sti wagon...

Thanks in advance

TonyFlow 19 March 2004 09:41 AM

I used to add as a percentage:

i.e. if filling up 75% of tank with petrol, I would add 75mls, if filling up 50%, 50mls etc.

Stopped det on my MY99 STi5 Type R (until I had it remapped for UK fuel :) )

Fangoria 19 March 2004 09:47 AM

Stopped det?

Where you using Optimax and getting det on this??

Had you modified the car at all - i.e exhuast/filter?

Just wondered as I used to use just SUL when I first got the car (the 98ron stuff in 99/00) and with det cans at even 150mph there was no sign off det at all on my sti5

Is NF now freely avaliable then.......as the supply of this has been a joke lately

Delboy2 19 March 2004 09:52 AM

As per instructions it recommends 1ml per litre for everyday use and 5ml per litre for high compression modified engines etc. Therefore for 44litres you would require 44mls of NF of everday use and 220mls for high compression modified engines etc. :D

Cheers

I have tried different measures and found that 2ml per litre keeps the Knocklink quite for day to day driving, for trackdays I use 5ml per litre.

harvey 19 March 2004 03:15 PM

Steve: In answer to your question I see only today that Roger Clarks have started stocking NF.

TonyFlow 19 March 2004 03:23 PM

sorry, when I stay stopped det, I meant stopped most of the activity on the KL (set at max sensitivity)

sillysi 19 March 2004 03:25 PM

Thanks for that info Harvey, I'm down to my last bottle and trying hard to find some.

sillysi 19 March 2004 04:04 PM

Just checked with Roger Clark and they want £13.25 + VAT per bottle on a case of 10. Last batch of 10 I bought was £10 per bottle about 4 months ago. Seems very expensive to me, just waiting to see if they do any better.

The_Judge 19 March 2004 04:16 PM

Shall we do a Group Buy on them...? ;) Sorry, couldn't resist...

sillysi 19 March 2004 04:19 PM

It's not a bad idea, would you like to run it ;)

The_Judge 19 March 2004 04:21 PM

lol...

Blue Streak 19 March 2004 06:09 PM

Cheers for replys, i will try and get hold of some and start using that instead of wynn's octane booster.. :D

dualtech 19 March 2004 07:34 PM

Just had a delivery of 10 bottles @ £11 each +£8 p&p

Send an e-mail to

scoobyscreech 19 March 2004 07:46 PM

sounds good!?

this stuff sounds good. but what extra will i get out of my 2001 WRX

Fangoria 19 March 2004 08:44 PM

Scoobyscreech

Depends if your car is standard or not

If standard, then yes inevitably it will reduce the onset of det (I wont say eliminate as who knows!!). It wont necessarily increase the power - for this you have to have the ECU remapped, and/or replaced to get the benefits that running higher octane can provide

I've tried Millers, the Silkolene stuff and NF - NF is fields ahead of the rest but it is expensive........ given there is so much tax on it!!
If you want to just reduce the risk of det...or play safe then I'd probably recommend just using a bottle of Millers in every fill up - with NF you have to mess a bout measuring the stuff (i.e. you put about 1-2mils per fil up per litre in it) - although I use a full bottle of the stuff......when I have it....there are alternatives which have/are being debated on other threads

Harvey

Thanks - I was not aware.

All

Regarding price, the Aussie dollar has strengthened against the £ in the last 12-18 months - hence the price increases

sillysi 19 March 2004 10:00 PM

Dualtech,

Is it NF Race Formula that you purchased?

Scoobyscreech,

I use NF to prevent knock, I have a P1 which is pretty much a Jap import with more sensitive knock correction. I used to have a MY01 WRX and tried it in that, I would say that through the gears the car picked up noticeably better than when run on Optimax alone. If you are curious just buy one bottle and try 2ml per ltr of Optimax.

Si.

dualtech 20 March 2004 10:03 AM

Silly si

Yup the proper NF race formula

sillysi 20 March 2004 01:13 PM

Dualtech, would you mind checking his e-mail address as I am getting my messages bounced back with a non-routeable error.

Thanks,

Si.

I would have thought it should be richard@pentlandcomponents.com

CHRIS_D 20 March 2004 03:22 PM

just changed from millers to NF and what a difference

Optimax + Millers - Amber lights on KL over 6K rpm

Optimax + NF - Only greens on KL up to redline

car is an Sti5- not remapped as yet

sillysi 20 March 2004 06:24 PM

Cheers Dualtech that seems to have done the trick :)

Chris D,

I ran out of NF and had to use Millers and got the same results you were having, it ain't going in again.

Just to add there have been a few posts on other threads suggesting that there is no knock correction after 6K so be careful up there.

When my ScoobyECUd 95 UK had a sudden onset of knocklink redlight (with optimax) a bottle of Wynns octane booster brought it down to one green.
Not sure what caused it really since an hour earlier there were no red lights but anyhow.... Chris @ CCS Performance swears by the stuff. Says they have compared it to various other brands when mapping customers cars and think its the dogs !$"!£$%^^ A little more expensive than Millars but not too bad.
