Compaq Laptop display problem
 

We have a Compaq presario 1400 series laptop and the display (LCD?) is very dark and difficult to see. Though it might be a bad connection or damaged wire but had it apart and everything seems ok.
It's not just dark, some parts of the screen are difficult to see unless you tip the screen a different direction.
Is this a classic symptom of how LCD displays go faulty - anyone know if it's worth trying to get it sorted, does it need a new screen perhaps?

You may have a Fn button, on my laptop it's got blue print on. Press it (if you have one) then look for a button with a sun and an up arrow (mine is also blue f7) press them both together.

Jer, wish it was that simple.....unless the brightness function is broken.

mine did the same, was a bad connection on a wire at the bottom of the screen, under the facia on the RHS..
