Can anyone explain the offset on wheels. I currently have a set of 17" speedline ST1's on my M98 uk. I want to fit the AP package but these will not fit under the ST1's. When I buy my new wheels, what offset will be required so that all will be fine.

Thanks...John

John,

I believe it's not just the offset you have to watch out for, it's also the spoke pattern of the wheels which is what causes problems with the ST1 (which can't even accomodate the normal MY99/00 4 pot caliper)

AFAIK, the ST2 has the same/similar offset, but the different spoke pattern (they are further out at the edge) makes the difference.

Any of the vendors of big brakes (Scoobysport, Scoobymania etc) should be able to advise if a particular wheel is suitable.

Finally, if you want to keep the ST1s and aren't set on AP, the Scoobysport Brembos can be made to fit under those...

Hope that helps
Alastair

John,

seems you are thinking the same thing as myself (ie need bigger brakes!).

Most of the aftermarket wheels will fit accomodate any of the bigger brakes without any problem. Some have a 45mm offset, and other something like 52mm.

Any of the Prodrive wheels will fit accomodate the bigger brakes, apart from the original SuperTurismo design. I'm currently looking at the PD7 ones (7 spokes), which I think would look good in Anthracite - well you wouldn't notice the brake dust so much!

Any of the Mim/Oz/Raceline/Compompotive/Techno-something wheels should fit without any problem.

The hardest thing to decide is which to go for, and in what colour!

I'm using Tecnomagnesio TM-sport, in 17x7 ET48, with 215x40x17 GoodYear Eagle F1's.
...and I've got problems with rubbing when driving really hard...

But it's only a matter of 2 mm tops to make clearance.

I'd go for 205x45 if I'd choose now...it's either that or remove the rubber thingys on the arches.

The rim itself fit's nicely over the MY00 4-pots though.

SecretAgentMan,

Do you have a picture of your wheels at all?

Thanks

Mojo

And more Impreza related pics from Sweden at my hp...

Thanks guys. Like you say John it's the choice that is the problem now. I think I have narrowed it down to three. OZ ST's, Scoobysport MIM, or the latest Prodrive ST's, with anthracite being the preferred colour.

I just need to save the pennies now and place the order.

...John
